BEATING RETREAT CEREMONY

The Annual BEATING RETREAT CEREMONY is taking place on September 8th. The ceremony will be performed by THE BRITISH ARMY BAND CATTERICK.

Beating Retreat marks a centuries old tradition. When the troops ceased fighting, sheathed their arms and retreated from the battlefield and returned to their camps at sunset at the sound of Retreat. Colours and Standards and Flags lowered.

The BRITISH ARMY BAND will BEAT RETREAT at 6.30pm in the Oakham Market Place. Admission is free and there will be a collection for the BF-the SOLDIERS CHARITY.

The ABF is the Army’s National charity for soldiers, former soldiers, and families for life. All soldiers, veterans and their immediate families should have the opportunity to avoid hardship and enjoy independence and dignity.

Please go along to Oakham’s Market place and support our boys and girls. It will be wise to get there a little earlier as the event is well attended.
