Tonight, 20th August 2020, the Chris Wood trophy was presented to Keith Crellin.
The trophy is presented annually in memory of a Past President, Chris Wood. It is given to the member of the Oakham Rugby Club who has demonstrated outstanding service to the club. This year Past President Steve Beanland made the presentation to Keith Crellin, a club stalwart.
There could not have been a worthy recipient than Keith, an avid fan of the game. Since his arrival almost 40 years ago he has been involved with the club in one way or another.
He was pivotal in the development of the “old shed to the club” on Lands End Way, formally Pillings Road, serving there as mini coach. He was also a player, a barman, a gopher, and Treasurer, as well as the Chairman and President.
Keith continues his involvement with the Oakham Rugby Club to this day within the new club as the immediate Past President. He now oversees the Vice Presidents and International Ticket Allocation with the support of his wife Barbara. Barbara, who is also a committed rugby football fan, is the current Leicestershire Rugby Union President.
