Last Saturday (11th July), Oakham Cricket Club held its opening game of the season. Because of the pandemic lockdown cricket couldn’t be played anywhere in the country. The easing of the lockdown rules last week finally allowed the cricket season to begin.
The match between the President’s XI and the Chairman’s XI took place during the afternoon. The President’s XI finished on 143 all out after 35.4 overs. The Chairman’s XI won after finishing on 245 all out after 45 overs.
On a pleasant afternoon there were plenty of spectators turned up to watch the match which turned out to be highly enjoyable to hear the leather smacking the willow.
